Time for handicap plates on my van

Time for handicap plates on my van

I’ve been wanting to get handicap plates on my van since I purchased the vehicle. There was a whole thing with the plates because I purchased the van in New Jersey and I live in New York. At that time I would’ve had to surrender the plates and re-register after I just paid the NYS 2 year registration fee. New York State isn’t very good at giving you money back and prorating so I just stuck with my handicap tag….

I love my condo

I love my condo

I love where I live. I’m sure I’ve said this 1000 times but I just have to repeat it again. I love everything about my condo. I love waking up with the sun shining into my room and standing up seeing the sun glistening off the water in the channel. I love seeing the boats. I love watching out my living room window out to the balcony seeing the whole open ocean both when it’s calm in the morning or…

Bubba my van had a flat

Bubba my van had a flat

I want to thank my neighbors in my condo. I had a flat on my back rear passenger side tire. Someone noticed it and called the security booth for them to contact me. Since it was already dark I didn’t go downstairs to look at it but I asked my daughter to check it out when she came home. She confirmed it was really flat. Great. Luckily I bought on Amazon a cordless air pump for my wheelchair tires months…

My handicap van is coming

My handicap van is coming

I got a call from the finance manager yesterday going over a couple of details and she said they were delivering the van this Wednesday, like the day after today. WHAT??? They haven’t received any payments from my grants and we aren’t planning on laying that money out. “They leave it on their accounts receivable side, it’s not a problem”. As wonderful as this is for me, other than the grant from Nova, they didn’t even ask me for me…

Parking spot saga continued

Parking spot saga continued

I was advised to send a letter to the building’s management company and board president. I simply asked them to reconsider NOT revoking my parking spot and I cited the law which governs my “reasonable accommodation”. I felt like I am back at my job again when they denied me from working from home. I had to draft a letter requesting the exact same thing, reconsider my request for “reasonable accommodation”. My work did make the allowance and I worked…

Condo revoking reserved parking spots

Condo revoking reserved parking spots

I’m not shocked because it got out of hand. What started as my one request that I had to submit medical documentation for, ended up being 5 handicap parking spots being reserved for condo residents. The other long-term residents in the condo had meltdowns why they can’t have a reserved spot. After a total of 3 months of angry calls and emails from condo residents, it was put to a vote once again to the board and it was decided…

My own handicap reserved spot

My own handicap reserved spot

My condo gave me an assigned spot. There are six handicap spots in front of my building. Normally I leave in the morning and I’m back in the mornings, I get a spot back. However if I go out towards the afternoon, sometimes I don’t get a spot. The other close spots could also get taken pretty easily especially at night. If I’m having dinner with a friend, when I come home, parking is a problem. I can’t walk that…

My own handicap parking spot

My own handicap parking spot

The sun is out. My view is beautiful. My furniture for the balcony has been ordered and soon my blogs will be written from there. My little four-legged angels let me sleep a little in later today. I just woke up feeling great. It is just so nice to feel better. I have to admit it was a rough couple of weeks but that Ocrevus infusion. It really wasn’t even the Ocrevus that did it, it was the steroids. It’s…

Not one of my finer moments

Not one of my finer moments

Well I can definitively say that chip on my shoulder I work so hard to get rid of has not disappeared. I was having dinner last night with a friend and her son. My daughter has been friends with him since kindergarten. They have a brother and sister type of relationship and his mom and I have spent so many Friday and Saturday nights out together that we have so many memories to laugh about. Anyway, I drove my daughter…

A happy outcome when made a positive choice

A happy outcome when made a positive choice

Yesterday I had to make my way to the mall.  When I first got there I couldn’t find any parking where I needed to park. They had these new spaces that were for the handicap now call Simon reserved parking. This I guess is for people who have some kind of card with the mall.  All the malls by me on Long Island are Simon malls. So I guess this is Simon pass whatever it is have priority parking and…
