Uh oh, I’m getting sick

Uh oh, I’m getting sick

My favorite person came home from college last Thursday with a terrible cold. Poor thing was so sick. I wasn’t even sure it was just a cold. I thought she could perhaps have a sinus infection. However come Sunday the pressure in her head was somewhat better and she didn’t want to go to the doctor. I thought I was being careful around her so I didn’t get sick but alas, she shared my giant jug of water I always fill and keep next to me throughout the day. DUH!!!

It Just hit me yesterday out of nowhere. I went to physical therapy and then straight to an MS support group. I thought I just maybe overdid it. When I got home the fatigue was extreme. The one that hits every muscle in your body and you feel like your just weighed down. Every MS patient knows the feeling and I’m sure other chronic illness patients are all to familiar with it. Then the headache started, the headache which has still not left. I didn’t sneeze much but I’m stuffy and my chest is getting constricted. You know that feeling of just feeling lousy. That’s me today. My head is a stuffy dull throb that I’d really like to go away but it hasn’t no matter what I’ve taken.

This will be the first cold since starting Ocrevus. Ocrevus wipes out you B-cells which are you white blood cells. White blood cells fight off sickness and infection. The body has many other types of white blood cells that fight infections so NO, I’m not walking around without any immune system, but I do have a compromised immune system. Little colds like this can take me longer to recover from than the average person. That’s all it means. It means I should have been a lot smarter when my daughter was drinking my water that my compromised immune system was more susceptible to catch a cold. The one smart thing I did was buy Zinc drops which have helped me in the past fight a cold if I took them right at the onset of symptoms.

Anyway, wish me luck, because my daughter was in bad shape. Hopefully I don’t get that bad. Hopefully it passes quickly. MS doesn’t mix well with any kind of sickness at least not for me.

  1. I know exactly how you feel. I just got over a cold/flu that lasted a good week. I work as a substitute teacher and part time as a cashier at Walgreens. I get hit with germs from kids and the general public. I was so out of it I couldn’t go to work for the whole week. My co-worker told me to get some Zinc vitamins and start taking them to help build up my immune system. I did just that, and within a day or two I was feeling so much better. I hope that you are well on your way to a speedy recovery. Blessings are coming your way!
