Read a page, turn a page

Read a page, turn a page

I finally picked up a book to read. Actually I picked up my kindle but the act is the same. I use to fly through books. I read all the time. Not as a child., more as an adult. It started when my daughter was small watching the same dumb shows or movies on TV, over and over and over and over again. I’d sit with her and read.  When I took over my last position at my job, I never took a lunch break or any break for the first 6 months trying to fix things and get things running correctly. I stopped reading. That was now 4 years ago. The last book I read was The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker. I loved this book so much, I just was never able to get into another book. Then a year became 2, 2 became 3 etc. However, I’m home a lot I feel like my mind is going to mush watching endless TV, so I asked my mom for a book recommendation. Like TV, I like serial books, so she immediately told me to read the Clifton Chronicles by Jeffrey Archer. This is a six book series and she has already told me of another one right after these to read. It’s nice to get entrenched in something other than the drama of a real housewife, but I promise I’m not giving up my mindless TV either.

I do want to add that for anyone who has a chronic condition, like myself, who can’t hold a book, the kindle really is wonderful . It is bright, you can change the font size, you can lay it down in your lap and read, and you can turn pages with a stylus as I do.  I’d never be able to hold a book and read anymore so I’m grateful that I have a kindle to read from. It is really a wonderful thing.

Happy Monday
