Long Island bulldog rescue

The first time I contacted this group was about 10 years ago in hysterics. It was at the time my husband and I decided to get a divorce. Knowing I’d loose my house, I also thought I was going to loose my puppy.  I remember sobbing and the really nice woman telling me, “you might find a place that will let you have him. We are here if you need us but I can tell that you love this dog, you’ll find a home for all of you.” I found a home for all of us.  Over the years I tried to volunteer for them. I wanted to foster Bulldogs but I only received a call once to do so.  Unfortunately the issue with this specific dog had to do with controlling his bladder and tushy which living in an apartment really wouldn’t have worked. Another time I was going to adopt a French bulldog surrendered to them but the family decided not to part with the dog. This was the incident that brought our second dog into our family.

Ive still always held the dream of fostering the Bulldogs or caring for the aging bulldog.  I wrote about it in a previous post following my passion.  My mother who felt moving wasn’t the right thing for me both financially and logically said “if you want to foster the dog then try again reach out”. So once again I did. A very long application but this time I got a call back two days later. Today they are coming for a home inspection.  I have no idea what happens next but OMG this has been what I’ve wanted to do for years and in 5 minutes my bell is going to ring.

I filled out all the necessary paperwork and I talked with the lady for some time about taking in a foster. Hopefully I will get a dog that will fit the needs of the rescue group and will fit in fine with my dogs

Now I guess I just wait. I really want to help and make a difference some how. My passion is and always will be dogs. They are born innocent like children but they never learn to talk.  Keeping my fingers crossed. A benefit to having MS is its symptoms keep me home and I now have the ability to care for a foster dog as opposed to leaving it while I go to work. I like to look on the bright side of MS this is definitely a bright side.
